Short bio

For the program and the introduction.

Kelly Rose Hall, IOM · CCE · MBA, is the founder of Clayton Rose Group and a keynote speaker on association strategy, board governance, and the leadership work most organizations are quietly avoiding. She has spent nearly four decades inside chamber and trade-association leadership before founding the firm, and now advises association leaders across the United States from Longview, Texas.

Kelly's keynotes are direct, evidence-led, and built around one clear argument. Audiences leave with a specific behavioral ask, not a vague invitation to be inspired.

Signature topics

Four talks Kelly delivers most often.

Every keynote is tailored to the host association, but these are the arguments Kelly returns to. Each talk runs 45–60 minutes and includes a specific behavioral ask the audience can act on within 30 days.

For chamber annuals, trade association conferences, and association leadership events

Most association strategy is theater. Here's what the real work looks like.

Why so many associations confuse strategic planning with strategic deciding, and the four questions a board should be willing to answer in writing. Best for events where the audience is association executives, board members, and senior staff.

For board retreats, governance committees, and CEO peer events

The board agenda problem (and what to put on it instead).

Most board meetings cycle through the same eight items every quarter. This talk diagnoses the pattern and offers a four-question agenda structure to replace it. Pairs well as a half-day workshop format.

For membership leadership and association marketing audiences

What associations get wrong about the next generation.

Programming gimmicks are not a strategy. This talk reframes the next-generation member problem as a governance and value problem and proposes three structural changes most associations have not tried.

For executive and CEO audiences across industries

Leadership without theater.

Drawing on Kelly's coaching and foresight work, this talk explores the difference between performing leadership and practicing it. Direct, candid, and useful for leadership programs and executive cohorts.
